Nisha
Nisha was first exposed to Belly Dancing in 2000 and felt an instant connection to the style and has enjoyed learning different styles of Middle Eastern dance since then. Nisha joined the Tarab Dance Company in 2010. She feels honoured to be part of Tarab and to work with other like-minded dancers to develop performances that illustrate the true form of Bellydance.
Nisha is a full time teacher, performer and choreographer based in Sheffield. She set up AIM TO DANCE AND CREATE in 2006 and runs weekly classes in Bellydance, Bollywood, Salsa, and Dance workout, as well as community courses, school clubs and workshops around the UK. In 2009 Nisha established the ASHAY Dance Troupe who perform Bellydance, Bollywood and Dance Fusion, among other styles, at local and national events.
Nisha started her training in 2000 at K.DEE.K DanceWorks. In 2005 she qualified as a UKA Salsa and Oriental Dance instructor and in the following year completed certified courses in Exercise to Music, Zumba instruction and Pilates. From 2007-2009 she trained at the Josephine Wise Academy for Arabic Dance (JWAAD) and received a teaching foundation and diploma in Arabic dance. Nisha also competes in the UKA amateur Latin and Ballroom Medal Competitions.
